§ 44-52. Preparation of designation report.

  • The Historic Preservation Commission shall, within 30 days of the receipt of a complete application, make or cause to be made an investigation and report on the historic, architectural, archaeological or cultural significance of the building, structure, site, area or object proposed for designation. The 30-day period may be extended with the consent of the applicant. Such report shall consist of a concise statement of exactly what is being proposed for designation and shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

    (1)

    The name and address of the current property owner.

    (2)

    A map showing the location of the property, including any buildings and appurtenant features.

    (3)

    Photographs that clearly depict the building, structure, site, area or object proposed for designation, including facades, details, and siting. Where outbuildings are proposed for designation, they shall be described, photographed, and mapped as well.

    (4)

    An assessment of the significance of the site and/or structure in terms of its historical, prehistorical, architectural, or cultural importance. The assessment should include an architectural or archaeological description and a historical discussion of the site and/or structure, including the date of construction and any later alterations. Where land is included in the proposed designation, the report shall clearly justify its inclusion.
