§ 44-40. Preparation of designation report.

  • If, upon completion of the inventory and the notification of property owners, a property owner or property owners, the Commission or the Board of Commissioners wishes to recommend the designation of a historic district or districts, the Historic Preservation Commission shall make or cause to be made an investigation and report which includes the following:

    (1)

    The names and addresses of the current owners of property in the proposed district(s).

    (2)

    A map showing the boundaries of the proposed district(s).

    (3)

    Photographs that clearly depict the buildings, structures, sites, areas or objects included in the proposed district(s).

    (4)

    An assessment of the significance of the buildings, structures, sites, areas or objects in terms of their historical, prehistorical, architectural, or cultural importance. The assessment should include an architectural or archaeological description, including the date of construction and any later alterations.

    (5)

    Proposed amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance and Zoning Atlas to establish the historic district as an overlay zoning district.

    (6)

    Proposed design review principles and guidelines governing new construction and exterior changes to buildings, structures, and appurtenant features within the historic district.
